The Head Start 5U Flag Football Program

Get ready for the Second Annual Head Start 5U Flag Football Tournament — where our youngest athletes take their first big step into the world of football! Designed for ages 3–5, this developmental season focuses on fun, fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence building.

 

 Season Dates:

February 3 – March 20, 2026

 

  • Practice Weeks: Feb 3, 5, 10, 12 (two practices per week)

  • Team Selection: Feb 12

  • Regular Schedule: Practices every Tuesday; Games every Friday

  • Times: Practices 6:00–7:50 PM | Games 6:00–9:00 PM

  •  Awards Ceremony: March 20, 2026 (final game day)

Washington Park

 Registration:

$100 per child – includes uniforms, insurance, and season activities.

  • 🏈 Program Breakdown

  • The first few weeks focus on teaching kids football fundamentals:
    • Running with the ball
    • Catching
    • Defending
    • Scoring

  • Coaches rotate through groups to assess players’ skills and natural abilities.

  • After evaluations, a draft will be held to assign kids to teams.

  • 🏫 College-Themed Teams

  • Each team represents one of the following schools:

  • University of Miami

  • Florida State University

  • University of Florida

  • University of Georgia

  • University of Texas

  • Ohio State University

  • University of Oregon

  • University of Alabama

  • University of Tennessee

  • University of Colorado

  • ⚙️ Team Development Phase

  • After teams are set, coaches will:

  • Develop each player’s individual skills

  • Build team chemistry and sportsmanship

  • Prepare teams for weekly games

  • There will be 10 teams with 10 players each, and all games will be officially refereed. Coaches are encouraged to emphasize teamwork, discipline, and fun throughout the season.
