Parental and Family Support Programs
At Something For The Kids Inc., we believe that the foundation of a child’s development starts with a strong, supportive family. Our Parental and Family Support Programs are designed to help families, whether two-parent or single-parent households, in creating the kind of structured, stable home environments that foster a child’s emotional, intellectual, and social development.
Key Features of the Program:
Relationship Counseling and Family Building:
-
For Two-Parent Households: We offer counseling and workshops to strengthen partnerships, focusing on effective communication, conflict resolution, and co-parenting strategies. This helps build a cohesive family unit where children feel secure and loved.
-
For Single-Parent Households: Our program supports single parents in managing the dual responsibilities of parenting and household management. We provide resources to help balance work and family life, build strong support networks, and meet the emotional needs of both parent and child.
Parental Mentorship: We offer guidance for parents facing challenges such as financial strain or relationship difficulties. Mentors provide support and advice throughout various stages of a child’s life, ensuring families have the help they need.
Parent-Child Bonding Activities: We organize events and activities where parents can strengthen their relationships with their children through outings, communication exercises, and workshops that build trust and understanding.
Financial Planning and Household Management: We help families manage the financial pressures of raising children by offering workshops on budgeting, saving, and household management. Our resources aim to ensure long-term stability for families, especially for single parents managing on tighter budgets.
Community and Support Networks: Our program connects families to local resources and support groups, providing them with a community that offers help when needed. From childcare to mental health resources, we ensure families never feel alone.
Workshops on Positive Parenting: Our workshops cover child behavior, setting boundaries, and creating a nurturing yet disciplined environment. We focus on instilling values like empathy, respect, and responsibility, helping children grow into well-rounded individuals.
Our goal is to create supportive environments where families can thrive and children can develop into confident, emotionally secure, and socially responsible individuals. With our programs, we aim to "take our kids back" from negative influences and guide them toward a brighter future.

Get to Know Us
I never set out to be a football coach. Around the age of 30, I was watching my nephews play when their coach unexpectedly quit. My dad approached me and said, “I need you to coach the game.” That moment marked the beginning of my journey, and it has continued ever since.
As I coached, I couldn’t help but think back to my own childhood. Many of the kids in my neighborhood grew up without fathers, and my dad became a father figure to them. Every football season, I watched these kids grow and improve, but when the season ended, there was little to do but hang around the neighborhood. As they got older, the streets became more appealing to them. Slowly, they drifted away from my dad’s guidance and toward the street life. By the time they were too old for little league, many didn’t have the grades to play high school football, and the cycle continued. I lost too many friends to violence and the streets.
When I started coaching, I vowed to break this cycle. I told myself that when the season ended, I wouldn’t stop mentoring. I coached, trained, and mentored these boys from ages 4 and 5 all the way to 13, determined to provide consistency in their lives. And it worked—when it came time for graduation, all of my boys graduated, and many went on to play college football.
That experience taught me the power of consistency in guiding youth on the right path. However, I saw the next generation of kids in the neighborhood spiraling out of control. Seeing the news and hearing stories from the streets made me realize that I had to do more. I told my former players, "I need to make a difference." One of them said, "Coach, that’s it—Something For The Kids." In 2021, I founded Something For The Kids Inc., and by 2024, we’re still moving forward, committed to providing the guidance, mentorship, and consistency that can change lives.
To this day, I am a father to some and a father figure to many. I truly love my boys like they are my own flesh and blood, and I’ve restarted this journey with a new group of young men. My goal is to build an army of strong men and father figures who will give back to our youth. Together, we’re working to build a better future, one child at a time.
